Find answers to common questions about cruising with Ambassador Cruise Line
In line with public health and international food and beverage safety regulations, guests are not generally permitted to bring their own food or beverages onboard. However, Ambassador are pleased to allow a small amount of commercially sealed, non-perishable confectionery items (such as biscuits, chocolates, or sweets) strictly intended for personal consumption within your cabin. These items must be packed inside checked luggage and must not be shared with other guests or crew.
For those wanting to bring soft drinks, guests are permitted to bring up to 12 cans/small bottles per cabin however, these cannot be consumed in public areas. It is strictly prohibited to bring alcohol onboard and any found will be confiscated and stored until the end of the cruise.
Exceptions to these rules may be considered for specific medical needs however, supporting medical evidence must be submitted and approved prior to travel. Please contact the Guest Services Team for further information.
Ambassador want all their guests to feel comfortable as they enjoy the sunshine however, so kindly ask that appropriate swimwear be worn in all public areas, including pool decks and sun terraces. While some guests may choose to sunbathe more freely in the privacy of their own balconies, they appreciate your understanding in helping to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere in shared spaces, out of consideration for fellow guests.
Cabins onboard Ambition & Ambience are fitted with UK 3 pin socket with some allowing for USB charging. Whilst Renaissance is fitted with European 2 pin round socket, so don't forget to pack your adaptor!
To enable guests to budget for any extra costs, Ambassador offer a selection of Ambassador Drinks Packages that include service charges, gratuities, and other additions. Savings are available on these packages when booked and paid for before your cruise.
During the day, it is suggested that you wear casual clothing for your comfort. For the evenings on board, every day the Daily Programme suggests, as a guide, a mode of dress for that particular evening's events.
There are generally two 'formal' or gala nights planned every 7-12 nights when many gentlemen wear dinner jackets, although a lounge suit is quite acceptable. Ladies on these occasions have a chance to dress up and often opt for evening or cocktail dresses. Please note that jeans, T-Shirts, shorts and open neck shirts are not permitted in the main restaurant on Formal or Gala evenings.
On evenings proposed as 'smart', a suit or smart jacket and trousers, with or without a tie, for the men is suggested and the ladies have further opportunities to look elegant in cocktail dresses or trouser suits.
A 'casual' recommendation often covers evenings spent in port or when a special event such as a deck party is scheduled. In these cases, the choice of dress is left entirely to you.
From 2025 onwards, the multigenerational cruises will operate an 'Open Sitting' policy in the main dining rooms. This allows guests to have the flexibility to dine at a time that is convenient for them, by simply making their way to the main restaurant when they choose throughout the evening, rather than being allocated to a specific sitting for the duration of their cruise.
They are pleased to advise that Ambassador Cruise Line have now lifted all vaccination and testing requirements, meaning that all guests regardless of vaccination status, are now welcome to sail with us. Requirements may differ for the longer duration cruises but they will communicate this to those booked directly.
Ambassador is a ticketless cruise line, so they will not issue guests with a physical cruise ticket. Instead, once within 90 days of departure (but no later than 24 hours before sailing), all guests are required to submit their API (Advance Passenger Information) to us via the website.
